Appeal: Local plan policies ‘overly restrictive’ on countryside protection

A development of 34 homes has been approved for a site outside the settlement boundary of Hilton in Derby, after an inspector disagreed over the validity of council policies relating to housing supply.

Inspector Jason Whitfield noted that while it had been common ground between the appellant and South Derbyshire District Council that the council was able to demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable housing sites, an inspector in a recent separate appeal decision had concluded that this was not the case.
