Appeal: Leicester student accommodation will not cause demographic imbalance


The development of 279 student flats has been approved for a site in Leicester, after an inspector concluded that the scheme would not overburden the area with this type of residential development.

Inspector Y Wright noted that Leicester City Council’s Student Housing SPD indicates that further large-scale, purpose-built student housing in this area is unlikely to be acceptable because of the level of provision already in the area and the concurrent risk of cumulative impact.
