Appeal: King’s Road cinema scheme ruled not harmful to highway safety


A mixed-use development including a cinema plus retail and residential units has been approved for Chelsea's King’s Road in London after an inspector found that construction works on the proposed basement would not adversely affect pedestrian, cycle and vehicular safety in the area.

An identical scheme was dismissed at appeal in June 2014 as it failed to contribute the maximum reasonable amount towards affordable housing. This objection was overcome in the current appeal as the appellant, Ilona House Securities Limited, agreed to make a £1,215,000 financial contribution in lieu of onsite provision.
