Appeal: Javid refuses Devon wind turbine owing to community concerns

Communities secretary Sajid Javid has disagreed with an inspector’s decision to grant permission for a single wind turbine in Chulmleigh, Devon, after finding that community concerns relating to landscape and cumulative impacts had not been addressed.

Former communities secretary Greg Clark previously recovered the appeal on 7 October 2015 after noting that among Mid Devon District Council’s reasons for refusal was the adverse impact of the turbine on the Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) designated as ‘Castle 175m north of Stone Barton’.Javid agreed with inspector Paul Griffiths that the turbine would have no adverse impact on the SAM itself........
