Appeal: Javid overturns approval of 189 Cheshire homes

Communities secretary Sajid Javid has overturned an inspector’s decision to approve a 189-home scheme in Stapeley, Nantwich, after finding that there were no material considerations to justify the resulting loss of best and most versatile (BMV) agricultural land and harm to the character and appearance of the countryside.

The outline application, submitted by Muller Property Group, also included plans for a local centre, employment hub, primary school and public open space. A separate appeal, also dismissed, included plans for a new highway access road.

After ruling that Cheshire East Council is unable to demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable housing land, Javid agreed with inspector David Nicholso.....Sign Up or Login to read full article
