Appeal: Javid allows wind turbine after six-year legal battle


Communities secretary Sajid Javid has approved plans for a wind turbine near Melton Mowbray first submitted in 2012, which was blocked by two of his predecessors and strongly opposed by local MP Alan Duncan.

The appeal relates to a 46 metre-tall wind turbine, proposed for the village of Thorpe Satchville near Melton Mowbray. First submitted in 2012, the scheme was blocked by Melton Borough Council, which cited unacceptable landscape harm.At the subsequent appeal, an inspector decided to grant permission.
