Appeal: Impact on MOL sees 253 London homes dismissed

An inspector has refused permission for a part eight, part nine storey development comprising 253 residential units in Lower Sydenham, London, after ruling that very special circumstances did not exist to excuse the inappropriate development of Metropolitan Open Land (MOL).

Inspector Katie Peerless noted that the appeal site is part of the former Dylon International industrial premises, and was previously a sports ground for employees.Peerless noted that it was common ground between the parties that the site lies within MOL, and that the London Plan gives the same protection to such areas as given to Green Belt in the National Planning Policy Framework.
