Appeal: Green light for Kent green wedge homes


An inspector has approved 153 homes for a site that infringes upon the ‘green wedge’ between Margate and Broadstairs in Kent, after deciding that the scheme would not lead to the coalescence of the two settlements.

Thanet District Council was accepted to be unable to show a five-year supply of deliverable housing sites, such that it has granted 1,000 homes in the past 12 months including sites from the draft local plan that are in the open countryside – but none in green wedges.
