Appeal: Green belt protection aims see another solar park refused


Green Switch Developments Ltd has been denied permission to develop a 9.5 hectare solar park in Nempnett Thrubwell, Somerset, after communities secretary Greg Clark found that the scheme’s construction in the green belt could not be justified.

Clark agreed with inspector Anne Jordan that the panels would be perceived as large built structures when viewed from within the solar park itself, and that the inclusion of proposed security fencing would significantly harm the openness of the green belt.
