Appeal: Green belt home would not meet ‘high bar' of paragraph 55

Plans to build an innovative zero-carbon home on previously developed green belt land near Hatfield will not go ahead, after an inspector ruled the scheme's design failed to meet the ‘high bar’ required by NPPF paragraph 55.

The appeal site, within the Metropolitan Green Belt, is mostly covered by woodland, with two run-down wooden structures in one corner. The site is well screened and is not visible from any public areas.

The appellant sought permission to replace the structures with a single rectangular gabled building, clad in charred and blackened wood with a glazed frontage. The home would be separated .....Sign Up or Login to read full article
