Councils tighten grip on rogue landlords

Permission has been approved for the demolition of an existing court and erection of new buildings to provide 132 new dwellings on the Grants Roads Estate in Childs Hill, London, after an inspector found that the scheme would be appropriate in terms of open space provision and mix of affordable housing.

Inspector Richard Schofield noted that policy CS3 of the Council of the London Borough of Barnet’s Core Strategy (CS) promotes the regeneration of the estate, which was built in the 1960s, as a “priority housing estate” and is formally identified in the council’s five-year housing land supply assessment as an “allocation”.
