Appeal: Government U-turn on 97-home development after High Court challenge

After his predecessor’s original decision was quashed by the High Court last year, communities secretary Sajid Javid has gone against an emerging local plan to approve plans for 97 homes in West Sussex.
The development was first proposed in late 2013, and dismissed by Mid Sussex District Council early the following year. In 2015, a subsequent appeal against the decision was recovered by former secretary of state Greg Clark, who dismissed it. The challenge was then taken to the High Court, which quashed Clark's decision and ordered a full redetermination of the appeal.
