Appeal: Cumbria solar farm would not harm heritage assets

A five megawatt peak solar farm has been approved for land at Skelton in Cumbria, after an inspector judged that the scheme would not harm three listed heritage assets in the area.

Inspector Richard McCoy noted that the appeal site comprises two fields that are a mixture of moderate and poor-quality agricultural land.Given the topography of the land, the surrounding land uses, including significant areas of forestry plantations, and the existing planting in the area, McCoy agreed that the scheme would have a limited impact on landscape character beyond a 1 km radius.........
