Appeal: Conversion would cause ‘substantial harm’ to listed Plymouth warehouse

Plans to convert a grade-II listed warehouse in Plymouth for retail and residential use have been refused after an inspector decided that the ‘invasive’ scheme would harm the building’s historic significance.

The appeal relates to two grade-II listed buildings fronting onto Sutton Harbour, Plymouth. The two properties have been merged together to create a single building, which was historically used as a warehouse. The grade II* listed Customs House adjoins the warehouse, and it sits within the Barbican conservation area.
