Appeal: Clark rejects 220 homes for Kent despite ‘acute’ affordable housing need

Communities secretary Greg Clark has refused permission for a 220-home scheme in Maidstone, Kent, after concluding that the development would be ‘over-intensive’ and ‘anonymous’.

Clark acknowledged that Maidstone Council no longer wished to oppose the appeal after agreeing that its housing land supply stood at 2.1 years, with a “particularly acute” need in the affordable sector.
