Appeal: Clark approves plasma gasification facility for Nottinghamshire

Communities secretary Greg Clark has approved the development of a plasma gasification facility, materials recovery facility and energy generation infrastructure for the village of Bilsthorpe as the scheme would help address a district shortfall in energy recovery capacity.

Clark found that the proposal would largely not have a negative visual impact on the surrounding area, as the facility would be located within an existing business park that itself lies within a “’bowl-like’ landform”, which in tandem with existing and proposed planting means the scheme would largely be screened from wider views.
