Appeal: Clark approves Maidstone mixed-use development

Words:
Greg Clark

Communities secretary Greg Clark has supported the approval of a mixed-use development comprising up to 500 dwellings, including land for an education facility, a community centre and provision of open space in Maidstone, Kent.

Developer Croudace Strategic Ltd submitted the proposal as two separate, identical appeals, as the proposed development straddles the boundary between the Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) and Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council (TMBC) local authority areas, although no buildings are proposed for the TMBC section of the site. Both appeals were recommended for approval by inspector P W Clark.
