Appeal: Camping pods refused owing to flooding risk

Retrospective permission for five ‘camping pods’ in Somerset has been turned down, after an inspector found that the benefits of the development could not outweigh the risk of flooding.

The appeal site, near Axbridge in Somerset, has been classified by the Environment Agency as being within a Level 3 Flood Zone. This ruling is in place although nowhere within a kilometre of the site has ever been flooded, even during the significant floods in Somerset in 2014.
