Appeal: Blunsdon housing development would help create a mixed community

An inspector has approved the erection of up to 69 dwellings in the village of Blunsdon, Swindon, saying the scheme would provide a valuable contribution to much-needed housing supply and help to create a more mixed community.

Inspector Richard McCoy noted that Swindon Borough Council accepts that it cannot demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable housing land.

Although some parties contended that the development would lead to the coalescing of Blunsdon and Swindon, McCoy noted that the village is separated from Swindon by the A419, and is therefore at little risk of being subsumed by the larger settlement.....Sign Up or Login to read full article
