Appeal: Biodiversity improvements aid solar farm approval

An inspector has granted permission for a solar array on the edge of the village of Alkmonton in Ashbourne after finding that additional planting included in the proposal would benefit the landscape character of the area.

Inspector Alison Partington noted that while the site and its surrounding countryside is gently undulating, she did not agree with Derbyshire Dales District Council’s view that it occupies an elevated or overly prominent position, and judged that the landscape area has a medium/low sensitivity to change.
