Appeal: Alford homes refused due to impact on listed building and archeological remains

Permission has been refused for 51 homes in Alford, Lincolnshire, owing to the impact that the development would have on a listed manor house and the remains of a medieval and roman settlement.

Inspector Nick Palmer noted that the appeal site is outside of the development envelope for Alford, and that the scheme would protrude into the open countryside beyond Tothby Lane, which currently forms the boundary of the urban area. He therefore found that the development would have significant visual and landscape impacts.
