Appeal: 163 homes approved and 100 refused in Suffolk

Taylor Wimpey has been granted permission to develop 163 homes in Framlingham, Suffolk, despite concerns about its impact on landscape. Persimmon Homes was refused permission to build 100 homes on a nearby site.

Inspector John Braithwaite ruled that in the case of Taylor Wimpey’s appeal, although there were evident issues including the scheme’s use of 6.7 hectares of high-grade agricultural land, as the Suffolk Coastal District Council is unable to demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable housing land, the planning balance should weigh in favour of sustainable development.Despite council concerns........
