Appeal: ‘Swingers’ venue suitable for rural location

Permission has been granted for the change of use of a storage outbuilding to an entertainment venue in Colmworth, Bedford, after an inspector accepted that the proposal's discreet rural location complemented the proposed use as a ‘swingers’ venue.

The appeal building contains two floors and features a dance floor, hot tub, sauna, a whirlpool bath and breakout rooms.Bedford Borough Council had refused a previous application by the appellant for a Certificate of Lawful Use, on the grounds that insufficient evidence had been supplied to show that the use and building operations had been in existence for the previous 10 years.
