Appeal: ‘Sustainable development’ ruling sees 85 homes confirmed for village


Gladman Developments has been granted permission for the development of 85 houses for the village of Walkern, near Stevenage, after an inspector found the scheme to be sustainable in relation to the development capacity of the village and transport choices.

Inspector Peter Rose noted that the appeal site constitutes 4.17 hectares of agricultural land located outside the Walkern village boundary as identified in the East Herts Local Plan Second Review April 2007 (LP).
