Appeal: ‘Alien-like’ Lambeth tower would harm view of ‘Big Ben’

Plans for a £6.6million 15-storey tower described by local residents as a ‘horrific alien phallus’ have been blocked because the development would damage a protected view of the Palace of Westminster.

The appellant sought permission to demolish the flats, which were completed in 2010, to make way for a 15-storey residential tower. The £6.6 million development would provide only 11 flats, including a double-height penthouse.
